Ayurveda

Ayurveda translates as ‘the science of life’. It is an ancient system of medicine rooted in the Vedas. Like much traditional knowledge Ayurveda has been misunderstood and misconstrued to suggest a simplified understanding of the elements. Many curious contemporaries believe they can take a little quiz and thereby understand what Ayurveda has to offer. However, in our modern world it is often the most potent and effective approaches that are dismissed as alternative or unfounded. For, if people began to take responsibility for their own health and well being our capitalistic, disempowering, fear driven health care structures would be put in to question.

Ayurveda encompasses every aspect of the gross and subtle worlds. There is no right or wrong diet or lifestyle. There is understanding that everything in existence is made up of qualities. Understanding these qualities (Gunas) and the impact they have and how they interact with everything else, allows us as individuals to make choices, act in responsible relation and find our way back to balance.

After studying independently for decades I am currently in an accreditation process with CAISH ~ Centre for Ayurveda and Indian Systems of Healing.

I do incorporate Ayurvedic perspectives into my work as an RMT and Yoga Teacher. I will be offering one on One Ayurvedic Consultation beginning September 2026.
